Bridges at Mint Hill
The open-air center, to be called the Bridges at Mint Hill, will feature three anchor tenants, including a Belk department store, along with a 14-screen movie theater, restaurants and specialty shops. It will feature pedestrian and vehicular bridges over a creek that runs through the site.
The retail center is scheduled to open in 2007.
It is a project of local development firm Childress Klein Properties, which had requested the zoning change to give the property a planned-unit development designation. The tract had been zoned residential.
Town commissioners approved the change Thursday in a 5-0 vote.
The Bridges at Mint Hill is one of two major new retail center under development along the I-485 outerbelt.
The other -- Northlake Mall off Interstate 77 at I-485 -- is scheduled to open Sept. 15.
That 1.1 million-square-foot shopping center will feature as many as 150 stores and restaurants, including anchors Dillard's, Belk, Hecht's, Dick's Sporting Goods and AMC Theatres.
